Up Close with Angela Wright
By Stephanie Hill, graduate student, MMC

Angela WrightAngela Wright joined the staff of the School of Library and Information Science as assistant to Dr. Sam Hastings, director of the school. Angela is in charge of administrative, business management and other support services for the school.

In addition to working full time, Angela is completing her bachelor's degree at USC. She will graduate in December with a major in interdisciplinary studies.

A native of Conway, S.C., she enjoys live music, traveling, sports and spending time with her family and friends. She is a self-described news junkie and is very active in her church as part of the Worship and Arts Ministry. She has one son, Jackson, who she describes as "the coolest kid ever."

To get to know her better, we posed a few questions to Angela:

Tell us an interesting tidbit about your childhood.
I am a twin so that made my childhood very interesting! When I was in my early twenties my sister and I gave my mother the exact same Mother’s Day card. My sister was living in Boston at the time and I was living here. I also have a younger brother.

Decaf or Regular?
Neither. I’m not a coffee drinker.

Meat or veggies?
Meat. What’s a veggie without meat??

Do you prefer phone or email?
Phone. It’s more personable.Angela at the Outback Bowl

White or yellow gold?
White gold. It goes with everything.

Ice cream or frozen yogurt?
Doesn’t matter. I’m not a big fan of either.

Windows or Mac?
Either one.

What typeface best describes your personality?
Impact - I’d like to think that I leave a positive impact and impression with everyone that I meet.

Dogs or cats?
Dogs. I’m highly allergic to cats.

Summer or Winter?
Winter … but without the snow.

Favorite book?
JacksonThe Bible

Favorite author?
Maya Angelou

Favorite movie
One of my favorites is Love Jones.

What book have you read more than once and could still read again?
"The Color Purple"

Favorite place you've traveled and why?
Well I have two: Seattle and New York City. I’d wanted to go to Seattle since I was in high school (not for any particular reason). I finally went for my 30th birthday and it was AMAZING! I want to go again soon. I love New York as well. My sister lives there so I visit often.

Favorite type of music?
I’m somewhat of a music snob. I listen to all types of music and I absolutely love live music (concerts). Lately I’ve been listening to Alternative/Underground Soul music.

Favorite sport?
I enjoy all of the sports, except for baseball. That's too boring. They need a time clock!

CNN or Fox?
